The Rogue's Gallery: A Wacky (Only-a-Little-Horror) Picture Show

Welcome to my world of whack. This is what happens when a formerly well-behaved pediatrician goes off-label and lets the toys do the talking.

Valerie Sussman's art

They're spilling it all: the good, the bad, the funny — and yes, sometimes the ugly.

So come into my lab... and see what's on the slab. I just know you're quivering with antici... pation.

No beige here. Just wisdom dressed up weird.

What the Toys Are Saying

The formerly well-behaved pediatrician has left the building.

She's been replaced by an assemblage artist who hot-glues doll heads to things and calls it therapy. (It is.)

Each piece in this gallery started as a feeling too big to say out loud: grief, rage, absurdity, joy, survival. The toys stepped in. They're surprisingly good at it.

What You'll Find in Here

A quick tour of the weird

01

Assemblage art made from found objects, vintage toys, and a suspicious amount of glue.

02

Pieces that started as feelings too big for words and ended up as things you can look at.

03

Humor that walks the line between hilarious and haunting. Sometimes it trips.

04

No beige. No boring. No waiting room art. This is the stuff that woke up at 3am and had something to say.

05

Wisdom dressed in sequins and plastic. Because the deepest truths deserve a little sparkle.

06

Art that proves healing is not a straight line. Sometimes it loops back, doubles over, and ends up covered in googly eyes.
